| Q. How do I find a copy of the LDR 2002 Merchandising Catalog? |
| A.
Sales Support
has CDs with the Catalog, the catalog is online at
http://www.ldrind.com/Catalogs.html
, the catalog is available on LDR’s network server at
G:\2002 Merchandising Catalog.pdf
. |
| Q. I’ve got to find the part number for an item. How do I find what I’m looking for in the LDR 2002 Merchandising Catalog? |
| A. The catalog opens in Adobe
Reader, or Adobe Acrobat. The easiest way to find something is with
the “Find” command. You can access the Find command using the Find icon. Or you can hit Ctrl + F. Or you can select Find from the Edit Menu. |
| Q. ‘Find’ is too slow, is there another way? |
| A. The ‘Find’ command has to
search through every page in the catalog looking for your text, which can
take considerable time. It may be quicker to consult the index at
the back of the catalog. Find the part you need and enter it in the
‘Go To Page’ dialog box. Select Document>Go To Page (or press Ctrl-N), and enter the page number. Click on ‘OK’ to jump to that page. ‘Find’ does have it’s advantages: In addition to part number, you can search for a UPC, or any portion of the catalog text (“soap dispenser”, “bath faucet”). |
| Q. How do I copy information from the catalog? |
| A. Click on the ‘Text Selection’
tool (or press the ‘V’ key). Select the text you want to copy, and
select Edit>Copy (or press Ctrl-C). You will be able to paste the
copied text into any other document. Use Edit>Paste or the keyboard
shortcut (usually Ctrl-V). |
| Q. Can I copy a section of a page exactly as it appears on the screen? |
| A. Click on the ‘Text Selection’
tool and hold it until the expanded icon menu appears. Select
the Graphics Select tool. Using this tool you can highlight and copy
any section of the page for insertion (as an image) in another document.
Select the area you want to copy and choose Edit>Copy (or press Ctrl-C).
How you paste an image into your other document depends on the software,
consult the help file for the other software if you are unsure how to handle
images. |
| Q. I need a high-quality image of a part listed in the catalog. Where can I get one? |
| A. Every image in the catalog is available on the LDR Website for download. Just browse to http://ldrind.com/ClientLogin.html . Images are available as .jpgs at 72 or 300 dpi, and as Illustrator .eps files. |
| Q. How can I get a better look? |
| A. Several ways. The View menu gives you several optional views to choose from. The handiest views are Full Screen (Ctrl-L), Fit in Window (Ctrl+0), and Fit Width (Ctrl+2). You can also click on the Zoom tool (or press “Z”). The zoom tool will let you magnify any portion of the page. If you right-click with the Zoom tool selected, you get a pop-up menu that allows you to scale the display to different sizes. |
| Q. Help, I’m in Full Screen mode, how do I get out of it? |
| A. Full screen mode is nice for browsing, but you lose the toolbars and menus. You can get them back by pressing the Escape (‘Esc’) key. |
| Q. How do the page numbers work? |
| A. Every page has a ‘virtual’ page number (‘A-3’), and a ‘true’ page number (9 of 621). You can use either to reference the page for Goto Page, printing pages, etc. The virtual page number is the Section-Page number displayed at the bottom of the screen. The ‘true’ page number can be found on the bottom navigation bar, in parenthesis. True page numbers are useful for printing a range of pages, virtual page numbers are useful for navigating by sections. |
| Q. How do I print page(s)? |
| A. Select File>Print, click on the Print icon, or press Ctrl-P. You will get a print dialog box. Please note the Print Range section; you can print every page, the current page, or a range of pages. Page range may be specified by ‘virtual’ or ‘true’ page numbers. True page numbers, if used, must be in parenthesis. |
| Q. How do I use the Thumbnails? |
| A. Thumbnail view is one of the
easiest ways to get around the catalog quickly. Select Window>Show
Thumbnails (or press the F6 key) to open the thumbnail view. Thumbnails
and slider will appear on the left, scroll to the page you want and double-click
the thumbnail to jump to that page. You can expand the thumbnail section
by clicking and dragging the center bar (allows you to see more pages at
once.) |
| Q. How do I use the Bookmarks? |
| A. The bookmark view is another good way to get around quickly. Select Window>Show Bookmarks (or press the F5 key), and the bookmarks will appear in the window on the left. Select the section you want to jump to and click on it. |
| Q. Are there other ways to navigate? |
| A. The navigation buttons at
the top of the screen can jump to the beginning or end of the document,
or the previous/next page number. The forward and back buttons work
like a web browser, will take you back to a previously viewed page, or forward
to the starting page. The vertical scrollbar on the right-hand side can be moved to quickly scroll to a given page. The Find and Go To Page (Ctrl-F, Ctrl-N) can help find a specific part or jump to a known page number. A lot of the color pages have hotlinks, clicking on the image will jump to the catalog page where that part is listed. Some of the catalog pages have hotlinks back to the color sheets (try clicking on the line art image). The Table of Contents and Alpha Index have hotlinks to the various catalog sections. |
| Q. What’s available on the LDR Website? |
| A. Catalogs , Images , Sell Sheets , Product Information , and More! |
| Q. How do I download a catalog? |
| A. First, unless you have a lot
of bandwidth (cablemodem, DSL line), you probably want to avoid the larger
catalogs. The presentation graphics can take a great deal of time
to download, avoid them with a 56k or slower modem. The smaller catalogs
have all of the same information, they just lack the color pages. Right-click on the catalog link you want to download, then select “Save target as” (IE) or “Save link as” (Netscape). You can Left-click on the link to view the catalog in your browser (if you have the Acrobat Reader plug-in installed). |
| Q. How do I download an image? |
| A. Left-click on the thumbnail or link to open up the full-sized image. Once the full-sized image is completely loaded in your browser, Right-click on it to pull up the menu, then select “Save Picture As” (with Netscape it’s “Save Image As”). You can right-click and save-as on any image on the website (even the tiny thumbnail images and buttons). |
| Q. How do I download a sales sheet? |
| A. Right-click on the link and select “Save Target As”. The sales sheets on the website are at screen resolution (smaller files, faster download times). If you need a higher quality hardcopy, you can left-click on the “Request” link and it will launch an email request. Please include a mailing address if you require hardcopy sent to you. |
